Contact the Construction Department at 856-547-0706 on Monday-Thursday from 8:30a.m.- 4:00p.m. and Friday from 8:30a.m. – 12:00p.m.
Inspections are routinely scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- Electrical Sub-Code Official is available for inspections and plan reviews on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
- Building Sub-Code Official is available for inspections and plan reviews on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
- Plumbing Sub-Code Official is available for inspections and plan reviews on Tuesdays and Fridays from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
- Fire Sub-Code Official is available for inspections and plan reviews on Wednesdays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
- Inspections need to be scheduled at least a day in advance. Please call the Construction Department by 1:00 pm the day before to schedule an inspection.
- The Construction office reviews construction plans, issue permits, and inspects ongoing construction. All buildings are required to meet New Jersey Uniform Construction Code.
- All new construction must receive a Certificate of Occupancy (C.O.) from this department before the building can be occupied.

Residential Home Resale Inspection Checklist

Explanation and Requirements
- Visible 9-1-1 Address No.– address number must be visible and be a minimum of 4’ in height.
- Sidewalks–all sidewalks shall be safe and free of hazards. No raised sidewalks or deteriorated concrete.
- Driveways/Aprons—asphalt or macadam are acceptable for driveways only. If driveway apron is asphalt and is deteriorated, it must be replaced with concrete.
- Steps/Handrails—if there are three or more steps, handrails are required. Steps that are 30” or less above grade require a handrail on one side only. Steps that are higher than 30” require handrails on both sides. Handrails can have no more than 4” spacing between spindles.
- Porch/Railings—porches with no perimeter railings will be required to have railings installed. Again, railings can have no more than 4” spacing between spindles.
- Exterior paint—all peeling or chipping paint must be scraped and repainted. Unpainted exterior surfaces must be painted.
- Windows—broken windowpanes must be repaired.
- Exterior electrical—any electrical open splices or fixtures not properly installed must be corrected.
- Gutters/Downspouts—any gutters and/or downspouts not properly connected or missing must be corrected.
- Hazardous conditions—any condition the inspector as creating a public hazard. Details will be provided and will have to be corrected.
ADDITIONAL INSPECTIONS REQUIRED
Sump pump—a sump pump inspection will be performed by the Superintendent of Public Works. To schedule the sump pump inspection, call Mike Ciocco, Department of Public Works, at 856-547-2486. (Fee for sump pump inspection is included in the $100 inspection)
